The "Rest" of Your Life

Ahhh, those lazy, sunny, summer days…..When we were young, this carefree season seemed to linger forever.  There were forts to build, enemies to stalk, and endless hours for staring into that infinite, blue canopy.  When we “wearied” of our innocent daytripping, lemonade and cookies steeled us for returning to the fray.

My, how times have changed …. appointments, obligations, pressure to generate this, fix that, settle the other.  Are you exhausted to the point of fatigue?  Is your energy tank on fumes?  Will peace and rest ever be more than a mirage?

Someone sincere and credible extends to you this invitation:  “Come to me.  Get away with me, and you’ll recover your life.  I’ll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.  Keep company with me, and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

What do you think of this offer from the One who died for you, to give you true rest?
