A Midnight Clear

The state of our world may seem quite drear,
Yet shines a holy Light.
It came upon a midnight clear,
Much to the shepherds’ delight.

A king named Herod heard of the birth,
Arousing his paranoid pride.
Feigning excitement for all he was worth,
But, in truth, he the Savior denied.

As the birthday of Jesus draws ever so near,
How will you celebrate this event?
Yes, He came for the world, that midnight clear,
But, in love, ‘twas for you He was sent.
