Fear Not
An infectious disease and a crazed, rootin-tootin’ empire builder have given us a new religion …. FEAR. Streaming media filibuster us with continuous “news” designed to fan the flames of our phobias.
Fear’s language is simply complaining. Ironically that exacerbates our fears as a slap in God’s face, implying that He’s abandoned us, despite His promises. Could this be the same infinite, all-loving God who sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die a bloody death so that we could have all our sins blotted out permanently?
We send our fears on the run when we give God thanks, when we praise Him and when we hang on every word of His Word:
1) “Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
2) “Don’t let your heart be troubled. I’ll come back and take you to be with Me ….” (John 14:1-3)
3) “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God …” (Romans 8:28)
Pull this up when a faith cramp hits. The Bible contains 365 mentions of “Fear not.” Did our good Shepherd lovingly arrange that to give you peace of mind … DAILY?”
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
