Omen

Ominous, isn’t it?  It may be the harbinger of a holocaust or the promise of paradise.

The premonition that a world-shaking event is lurking offstage is giving many the vibe that whatever is coming, it is imminent. Deep in our souls we yearn for peace and unity. Instead we see hate and destruction.

Scripture maintains that our warfare is not a battle between people but is the collateral damage of a clash between good and evil. Let’s call it what it is. The combatants are God and satan, represented by light and darkness. The Biblical pattern is consistent. Darkness always ushers in the dawn. And the darker the dark, the lighter will be the Light.

Paul Simon sang,

“No, I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away.”

When the switch is finally thrown, where will you be on that strange and mournful day?

“The Word was God… not one thing came into being without Him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by.  The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness, but the darkness couldn’t put it out.” John 1:1-2
