"What Counts?"

Have we become desensitized to the daily death count?  This war we’re waging against that covert Covid foe is so dehumanizing.  As it drags on, is there a danger of our becoming immune to the heartbreak behind each of those numbers?

From dawn to dusk we’re pummeled with the percentage of possible precipitation, the Dow Jones averages, sport scores.  But it took Einstein to get the big picture, saying, “Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.”

Amidst this blur of statistics there’s a touching story behind every life on each day of this horrible holocaust.  Ancient King David wrote a song that reveals how intimately God is concerned with every moment of each life.

“You read my heart like an open book … You’ve gone into the future to prepare the way.  Before I’d ever seen the light of day the number of days You planned for me were already recorded in Your book.”  Psalms 139:3-16
